Sunday Ride
Ottawa is full of wonderful bike paths. On Sundays, there are parkway closings to traffic just for cyclists, in-line skaters, or people wanting to go out for a walk.
The Ottawa River Parkway, west of downtown follows the river and each year an artist defies the laws of physics by stacking rocks into beautiful formations. They last all summer and in the winter get knocked over as the river freezes over.

Blowing the dust off my old bicycle several years ago was one of the best things I ever did for myself. It's given me a new outlook on life, not to mention a healthier body. Still a long way to go, but it's a start. Riding slowly through the countryside makes you see things to don't normally see in a car. It gives you the time to digest what's in front of you. It helps keep you in the present moment and see what's real and what's an illusion. A bicycle is a time machine, a time machine that brings you back to the here and now. I love 'em.
